I've always been pretty purposeful and minimalistic when it comes to toys. I often see homes OVERTAKEN by toys and I don't want my home to be that way. I want to fill my home with beautiful, functional, educational, and long-lasting toys and keep them paired down so they don't cause a lot of unnecessary clutter. Yes, my child needs toys and has the freedom to play with them all over the house. But at the end of the day, they all go away into their assigned location. We have an extra bedroom that functions as a play room where we keep every single toy.
We don't (personally) buy tons of toys - we make wishlists and allow grandparents and aunts and uncles to spoil our child! :-) They have always been so generous! Our daughter has a good collection of quality toys. We own most toys on this list, though I have subbed out a few if the version we have isn't available or it wasn't on Amazon. Because Amazon is a busy mom's best friend!
You'll realize we are HUGE Melissa & Doug fans over here - most of what we own comes from them! Many of the toys I have chosen for my daughter span years of time - she still plays with some of the wooden toys that I bought her when she was six months old. I look for quality, versatile, and pretty open-ended toys. You might be surprised but we only own ONE battery powered toy. Keeps me happier and my daughter doesn't know the difference! I let her make all kinds of noise outside - but I cannot handle noisy toys inside!
I want to share my favorites with you all!
